Baseball Recap: ALA - Queen Creek Beats Combs for Their Sixth Straight Win

ALA - Queen Creek had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Combs on Friday. The Patriots blew past the Coyotes 14-1. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Haizen Reidhead made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Max Monsen, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3. Brasser Crumpton was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

ALA - Queen Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Combs only posted an OBP of .222.

The win (which was ALA - Queen Creek's sixth in a row) raised their record to 16-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Combs, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9-1 record this season.

ALA - Queen Creek will challenge Cactus Shadows at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Combs will be paying especially close attention to the Patriots' contest: after the Patriots faces off against the Falcons, they'll take on Combs again at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
