Future Michigan Wolverine Corperryale Harris earns Mr. Basketball as the state's top senior; Cedarville wins battle of unbeatens.

It's been quite a week for Corperryale "Manny" Harris of Detroit Redford High School. Monday, he was named Michigan's Mr. Basketball as the state's top senior by the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan.
Tuesday, Harris led his team to a 100-89 victory over Detroit Osborn in the Class A quarterfinals.
Redford, with a 20-6 record, plays Warren DeLaSalle, 22-4, this weekend in the state semifinals.
Harris has committed to playing at the University of Michigan. He won a close vote with 924 points followed by Dar Tucker of Saginaw Arthur Hill with 900 points.
Harris has led Redford to three-straight Detroit City League titles and is hopeful of a state title this weekend.
Cedarville Wins Battle of Unbeatens
Michigan State University's Breslin Center is the home site for the state's semifinals and finals rounds of the boys basketball state tournament. One semifinal game on Thursday night in Class D featured two undefeated teams, Bellaire at 25-0 vs. Cedarville and its 24-0 mark. It was Cedarville 58, Bellaire 55.
Bellaire had an 18-9 lead after the first quarter, thanks to 5-of-5 shooting and 10 points from Mike McClary. Bellaire was up 32-22 at halftime and 43-38 after the third quarter.
But Cedarville took the lead during the fourth to make a game of it.
The Trojans will play Wyoming Tri-unity Christian in the title game on Saturday.
"I'm so lost for words," Cedarville coach David Duncan said after the victory. "I'm so proud of my kids. Last year, we came down here and were 20 to 25 points behind at halftime. This time, we're down by 10 (32-22) at halftime. I told the guys it was a little better this time.
"I knew if we got back into the flow, we could be in this game. Our press affected them. Our kids gave us a gutsy effort down the stretch."
Hockey
One of the three hockey state champions crowned in Michigan earlier this month has a program rich in tradition.
Bloomsfield Hills Cranbrook-Kingswood won its 13th state title with a 2-1 victory over Grand Rapids Catholic Central in a state finals game at Compuware Sports Arena in Plymouth, Mich.
Dean Chelios, whose father Chris is a star defenseman for the Detroit Red Wings, scored both goals for Cranbrook Kingswood.
Chelios' first score came at 2:09 of the first period, assisted by Andrew Miller and Shota Hottaa. His next goal came at 6:54 of the second period with Miller and Brett Brazier assisting this time.
Zach Hansen had 27 saves for Cranbrook.
"It was a fast-paced hard-hitting game. Both teams played hard," Cranes coach Andy Weidenbach said after winning his sixth state title as a coach. "We were fortunate to have gotten a couple of bounces."
It was the final game in a Cranes uniform for 10 seniors.
"It's great for the seniors to win this," junior forward Bettt Brazier said.
"It's the largest senior class in the 14 years since I've been here," Weidenbach said.
"Seeing them go out as state champions is really special. We will miss them. They will be hard to replace."
In the 14 years he's coached at Cranbrook-Kingswood, Weidenbach's record is 259-106-26.
Volleyball
Livonia Churchill was crowned champion in Class A last weekend after a 14-25, 25-18, 21-25, 25-18, 15-7 victory over North Branch at Western Michigan University. Churchill ended its season at 56-4-1. It was the school's first volleyball state championship since 1991.
"A state championship was among our goals," Churchill Coach Mark Grenier said. "When we played East Kentwood (we knew) then we had the opportunity to win it all."
Leaders for Churchill in the title match included Kynda Abron, a 6-2 middle hitter.
"She has been a force for us all year," Grenier said. "She had 35 kills in the championship game."
Lauren Krumpsky, an outside hitter, was another standout player for Churchill. Kelly Archer was Churchill's libero and "the backbone of our ball control," Grenier said. "She had 26 digs in our championship game. We had great ball control. The kids worked on passes and played good defense. When you have ball control, you can do some things."
Other volleyball state champs were Grand Rapids South Christian in Class B, Montroe St. Mary's in Class C, and Battle Creek St. Phillip in Class C.
Wrestling
Dundee is celebrating dominance in Division 3 wrestling after having won a team state title. At the state finals in Battle Creek earlier this month, Dundee, 35-2, beat Richmond, 35-6, by a 29-26 count.
"We come into the season every year thinking we have a chance to win it," Dundee coach Tim Roberts said. "Our semifinal win (30-26 over Corunna) was just as close. We beat two very good teams."
Pete Rendina, a sophomore 119-pounder and state champ in the individual tournament, led the Dundee attack. Dundee had five other wrestlers take first at the individual tournament.
