Tree of Life Christian and Madison Christian are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Trojans will challenge the Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Tree of Life Christian has given up an average of 7.1 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Tree of Life Christian and Wellington School, and Wellington School kept the tradition alive. The Trojans lost 13-3 to the Jaguars on Tuesday. The contest marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Andrew Jackson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Eli Vascura was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases.
Meanwhile, Madison Christian came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 17-13 win over the Cougar. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Reegan Bryan made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Bryan was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. Bryan is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.
In other batting news, Madison Christian let Allen Flickinger and Rocco Price run wild. Flickinger scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Price scored two runs while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Underwood Jr, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Madison Christian's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Tree of Life Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Tree of Life Christian has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .478. However, it's not like Madison Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .491. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Tree of Life Christian came up short against Madison Christian when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 6-2. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
