Baseball Game Preview: Grafton Black Hawks vs. Superior Spartans

The Grafton Black Hawks will face off against the Superior Spartans at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Grafton's favor as the squad sits on eight straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Superior has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

Last Wednesday, Grafton made easy work of Ozaukee and carried off a 14-5 win. Fans of the Black Hawks have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Grafton got a great performance from Elijah Banaag as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over 4.1 innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave Banaag a new career-high.

At the plate, Everett Bonk was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Zachary Plier was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Grafton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .391 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Superior sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over Grand Rapids on Tuesday.

Grafton's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Superior, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
