Baseball Game Preview: Neuqua Valley Wildcats vs. Lyons Lions

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Neuqua Valley Wildcats take on Lyons Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

Neuqua Valley blew Oswego East out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Oswego East got their revenge. Neuqua Valley fell just short of Oswego East by a score of 6-4. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Neuqua Valley saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mike Langan, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Colton Maita was another, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Lyons got themselves on the board against Addison Trail on Wednesday, but Addison Trail never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Blazers. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Blazers: they've now won five in a row.

Mercer Krantz looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Lyons got a big performance out of Cam Clarke, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Ragsdale, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Lyons always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Addison Trail only posted an OBP of .211.

Lyons' win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Neuqua Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2-1.
