Baseball Game Preview: Potsdam Sandstoners vs. Ogdensburg Free Academy Blue Devils

The Potsdam Sandstoners will head out on the road to take on the Ogdensburg Free Academy Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Potsdam has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with five straight defeats, while Ogdensburg Free Academy will come in with five straight victories.

Potsdam fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Franklin Academy on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Huskies by a score of 11-10. On the bright side, the ten- run effort marked the Sandstoners' highest-scoring game to date.

Brandon Bernard was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Graham Rozler, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Meanwhile, Ogdensburg Free Academy hadn't done well against Massena recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Blue Devils had just enough and edged out the Raiders 4-2.

Ogdensburg Free Academy pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Potsdam, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Potsdam suffered a grim 13-1 defeat to Ogdensburg Free Academy in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Sandstoners avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
