It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Rancho Verde ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past the Citrus Hill Hawks 4-3. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Mustangs also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Eli Draper made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Draper was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Abraham Manzo was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run. David Hernandez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Rancho Verde and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Citrus Hill, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Rancho Verde will venture away from home to take on Grand Terrace at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Citrus Hill, they will welcome San Gorgonio at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
