Softball Preview: ThunderRidge Grizzlies vs. Chatfield Chargers

After starting their season with two straight games on the road, ThunderRidge is finally coming home. They will be defending their home-fieldthey go up against the Chatfield Chargers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Last Wednesday, ThunderRidge got the win against Arapahoe by a conclusive 13-4.

Riley Bowman made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Bowman was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and a double.

In other batting news, Abigail Gooden and Allie Horsford did most of the damage at the plate: Gooden scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5, while Horsford went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Rowan Daufeldt, who went 3-for-5 with a home run and two runs.

Meanwhile, Chatfield made easy work of D'Evelyn on Tuesday and carried off a 13-1 victory. The game marked the Chargers' most dominant win of the season so far.

Like ThunderRidge, Chatfield also got a great game from a two-way player: Isabella Leech. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Leech was also big at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a home run and four RBI. She also put up a run, which washer first of the season.

In other batting news, Kendall Davros was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-2. Those home runs were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ava Burgess, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.

The victory got ThunderRidge back to even at 1-1. As for Chatfield, they pushed their record up to 3-3 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
