Softball Recap: Triton Takes a Loss

Triton extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 16 on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 0-6 in the process. They came up short against the Wawasee Warriors, falling 24-2. If the Trojans were looking for revenge after losing 14-4 to the Warriors when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Wawasee's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-6. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Wawasee's part, Kirra Alvarez and Olivia Krichbaum made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Alvarez pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Krichbaum pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Alvarez got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Krichbaum went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those RBI marked the first that Alvarez has brought in this season.

In other batting news, Audra Weaver was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Heatherlynn Holder, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Triton wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 17-0 loss against Whitko on the 21st. As for Wawasee, they have also already played their next matchup, a 14-3 win against Warsaw on the 21st.
