Softball Recap: Berrien Springs Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Brandywine, Berrien Springs was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Eau Claire Beavers a 10-0 shutout. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Shamrocks as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Olivia Spenner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over 4.2 innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.4 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Berrien Springs got a big performance out of Isabel Hoover, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. Taylor Sill was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Berrien Springs hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.

Berrien Springs' win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Eau Claire, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Berrien Springs will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Beavers: the pair will be back at it again later today.
