Basketball Game Preview: Century Centurions vs. Pope County Pirates

The Century Centurions will head out to face off against the Pope County Pirates at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Monday, Century strolled past Joppa-Maple Grove with points to spare, taking the game 77-63.

Meanwhile, Pope County scored the most points they've had this season back in December of 2024, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of Century by a score of 76-73. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Pirates have suffered since December 29, 2023.

Pope County's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Century, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4.

Century skirted past Pope County 76-73 in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Century since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
