Soccer Recap: Lake Highland Prep Takes a Loss

Lake Highland Prep and American Heritage squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Lake Highland Prep had to settle for second. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the American Heritage Stallions who were credited with the win. The American Heritage Stallions got it done in the shootout by posting eight goals to the Lake Highland Prep Highlanders' seven. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Highlanders came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Stallions are ranked 47th).

The loss snapped Lake Highland Prep's winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 12-5 record. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 26 goals over those six contests. As for American Heritage, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-4.
