Basketball Recap: Riverside Skates Past International with Ease

A well-balanced attack led Riverside over International in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Riverside Argonauts blew the International Gryphons out of the water with a 71-25 final score. The Argonauts have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 21 points or more this season.

Riverside had a senior duo take command as Bini Hopper went 8-for-14 to rack up 19 points in addition to five assists and four steals and Brayden Torgrimson dropped a double-double with 14 points and 12 boards. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Torgrimson. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Hopper, who went 5-for-7 en route to 13 points and five boards.

Riverside was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as International only three assists.

When it comes to explaining why International lost, don't look at Peter Machado. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds. Machado is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down ten or more in each of the last six games he's played.

Riverside's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-4. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 42 points. As for International, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-11.
