Basketball Game Preview: Freeport Pretzels vs. Rockford East E-Rabs

Freeport is 2-8 against Rockford East since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Freeport Pretzels will face off against the Rockford East E-Rabs at 7:15 p.m. Freeport is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.7 points per game this season.

If Rockford East heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Freeport took over last week. Freeport secured a 56-50 W over Boylan Catholic on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pretzels.

Freeport got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kazion Morehead out in front who posted 18 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Andrew Seward, who earned ten points.

Meanwhile, in a tight match that could have gone either way, Rockford East made off with a 47-46 victory over Harlem.

Rockford East's win came from a few key players Freeport will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was MiKwan Marshall, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 12 points along with eight boards and five steals. He is becoming a predictor of Rockford East's success: when he posts at least three steals the team is 5-2 (and 3-5 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Marquis Goldsmith, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 boards.

Freeport's record now sits at 7-9. As for Rockford East, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season.
