Baseball Recap: Chula Vista Comes Up Short

Chula Vista and Olympian squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Chula Vista had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 4-3. The Spartans' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Jorge Lopez was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. He has become a key player for Chula Vista: the team is 9-3-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 7-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Gabriel Mendoza made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Chula Vista's loss dropped their record down to 16-11-2. As for Olympian, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 16-12-1.
