Basketball Game Preview: South Spencer Rebels vs. Wood Memorial Trojans

South Spencer hasn't had much luck against Wood Memorial recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The South Spencer Rebels will host the Wood Memorial Trojans at 7:00 p.m. South Spencer is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.8 points per game this season.

South Spencer took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Pike Central, posting a 58-31 victory. The Rebels have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 20 points or more this season.

South Spencer got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alexis Harris out in front who went 6 for 12 on her way to 16 points and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaci Meece, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 11 points and five assists.

Meanwhile, Wood Memorial entered their tilt with Barr-Reeve on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They skirted past the Vikings 42-40.

Wood Memorial has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.4 points per game. As for South Spencer, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

South Spencer was able to grind out a solid win over Wood Memorial in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, winning 45-35. Will South Spencer repeat their success, or does Wood Memorial have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
