Traverse City Central is 8-2 against Gaylord since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. Last Friday, Traverse City Central suffered a tough 68-46 loss at the hands of Petoskey. While losing is never fun, Traverse City Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 385th, while Petoskey is ranked 165th).

Meanwhile, Gaylord was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 58-52 to Bay City Western.

Gaylord might have lost, but man, Luke Gelow was a machine: he dropped a double-double on 30 points and 12 rebounds. Gelow is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down ten or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Locker, who scored 14 points.

Traverse City Central has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season. As for Gaylord, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.

Traverse City Central came up short against Gaylord when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 64-53. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Gelow, who dropped a double-double on 48 points and 16 rebounds. Now that Traverse City Central knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
