Baseball Game Preview: Aledo Bearcats vs. Amarillo Sandies

The Aledo Bearcats will take on the Amarillo Sandies on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Aledo comes in on 21 and Amarillo on five.

Aledo is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They skirted past Paschal 5-3.

Luke Sandefur looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lucas Nawrocki, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Landon Barnes also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Amarillo). They blew past Bel Air 28-6 on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Sandies, who have now won 18 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Amarillo's victory bumped their record up to 32-4. As for Aledo, their win bumped their record up to 36-4.

Everything went Aledo's way against Amarillo in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, as Aledo made off with a 15-2 victory. Will the Bearcats repeat their success, or do the Sandies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
