Softball Game Preview: Grundy County Yellowjackets vs. Moore County Raiders

Grundy County is 0-10 against Moore County since March of 2016 but things could change on Thursday. The Yellowjackets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. Grundy County has given up an average of 10.1 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Grundy County is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 26th straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They lost 11-0 to Whitwell.

Meanwhile, Moore County never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They blew past Cornersville 12-0. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.

Kinsley Miller tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Anna Leigh Ross was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Whitney Fanning was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Moore County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Moore County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Grundy County, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-10.
