Soccer Game Preview: Argyle vs. Denton

The Argyle Eagles will square off against the Denton Broncos at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Argyle is likely headed into the match with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Colleyville Heritage on Friday. Argyle fell just short of Colleyville Heritage by a score of 1-0.

Meanwhile, Denton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Colleyville Heritage, falling 8-0. While losing is never fun, the Broncos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 463rd, while the Panthers are ranked 38th).

Denton's loss dropped their record down to 0-8-2. As for Argyle, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-2-1.

Argyle skirted past Denton 1-0 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Argyle since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
