Volleyball Recap: Mt. Vernon Beats Herrin for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Mt. Vernon entered their tilt with Herrin on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Tigers. The Rams have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Tigers, too.

Mt. Vernon was actually outscored in aggregate across those three sets (66-64), but they still managed to win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 14-25, 25-20, 25-21.

When it comes to explaining why Herrin lost, don't look at Kylie Wagoner-Smith. Despite the final result, she had 12 digs. Aryanna Randall also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Mt. Vernon's victory bumped their record up to 10-14. As for Herrin, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-19 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matches. Mt. Vernon will square off against Centralia at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Herrin, they will face off against Harrisburg at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
