Hempfield Area dropped their record down to 8-12 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Plum Mustangs by a score of 4-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spartans of the 10-6 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.
Hempfield Area saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Drew Jones, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Ian Kovalcik was another, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.
