Basketball Recap: Kearney Catholic Comes Up Short

Kearney Catholic lost against Adams Central back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Kearney Catholic Stars took a 53-37 bruising from the Adams Central Patriots. The Stars were down 49-25 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the loss, Kearney Catholic still got an impressive performance from Owen Axmann, who posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Oliver Sharp, who scored six points.

Adams Central found their leader in sophomore Hunter Nepple, who had 19 points. Another player making a difference was Brodie Luksan, who earned 11 points.

Kearney Catholic has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-11 record this season. Adams Central is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Adams Central beat Kearney Catholic by a score of 50-36 on Tuesday.
