After flying high against Magnolia Science Academy Carson last Wednesday, George Washington Prep came back down to earth. George Washington Prep came up short against the Maywood Academy Nighthawks on Friday, falling 21-4. The Generals' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

George Washington Prep saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emily Varela, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

George Washington Prep's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Maywood Academy, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-5.

Coming up, George Washington Prep is taking a road trip to face off against Dymally at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Dymally has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 26 runs per game on average), something George Washington Prep will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Maywood Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Marquez at 4:00 p.m. Maywood Academy will need to watch out since Marquez has now posted at least ten runs in their last six contests.
