Basketball Recap: Glascock County Takes a Loss

Glascock County lost against Edmund Burke Academy back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Glascock County Panthers fell 59-48 to the Edmund Burke Academy Spartans. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 430th, while the Spartans are ranked 130th).

Leading Edmund Burke Academy to victory were Leila Eastmead and Payton Palmer. Eastmead went 8 of 14 on her way to 24 points and six steals, while Palmer dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards. Eastmead is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least four every time she's taken the court this season. Ellee Mobley was another key player, putting up six points and four steals.

Glascock County's loss dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Edmund Burke Academy, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 20-3.

The future could be bright for both Glascock County and Edmund Burke Academy: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Glascock County will try to hand Twiggs County their sixth-straight defeat when the two meet at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Edmund Burke Academy will look to extend Monsignor Donovan Catholic's 13-game losing streak when the meet at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
