Softball Recap: Robertson Snags Fourth Victory in Last Five Games

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Robertson had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They came out on top against the Santa Fe Indian Braves by a score of 8-4. That's the fourth time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 5-1 win back in April.

Ariana Sanchez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kylee Griego, who went 3-for-4 with three doubles and two runs. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Paiyten Abeyta was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Robertson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.4.

Robertson has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-14 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Santa Fe Indian, they now have a losing record of 14-15.

Coming up, Robertson will take on West Las Vegas at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. The Cardinals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Dons have averaged an impressive 10.7 runs per game this season. Santa Fe Indian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
