The Legacy Charter Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Lake Buena Vista Vipers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Legacy Charter is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Legacy Charter took a loss when they played away from home last Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They put the hurt on City of Life Christian Academy with a sharp 21-4 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their one-run performance the match before.
Kevin Barnard was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up four earned runs off three hits. Barnard was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. He also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, Lucas Pena and Ryan Rushing did most of the damage at the plate: Pena scored three runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Rushing scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs Rushing has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Chani Abreu, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Legacy Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as City of Life Christian Academy only posted an OBP of .368.
Meanwhile, Lake Buena Vista came up short against Gateway on Tuesday, falling 12-4.
Lake Buena Vista saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dixson Gil, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases.
With the win, Legacy Charter broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-5. As for Lake Buena Vista, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Legacy Charter has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lake Buena Vista struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Legacy Charter took their victory against Lake Buena Vista in their previous matchup back in February of 2022 by a conclusive 17-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Legacy Charter since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
