Softball Game Preview: San Leandro Pirates vs. Encinal Jets

The San Leandro Pirates will square off against the Encinal Jets at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

San Leandro's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Tennyson with a sharp 12-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won 12 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Encinal, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They blew past Oakland 11-1 on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Jets considering their two-run performance the game before.

The team relied heavily on Jazzy Alcantar, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Sherrielyn Ferrer was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

San Leandro's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Encinal, their victory bumped their record up to 5-10.
