Preview: Coram Deo Academy Lions vs. Bishop Gorman Crusaders
Coram Deo Academy has been on the road for two straight, but on Saturday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Bishop Gorman Crusaders at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Even though Coram Deo Academy has not done well against North Dallas Adventist Academy recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Coram Deo Academy pulled ahead with a 56-55 photo finish over North Dallas Adventist Academy. The win was just what Coram Deo Academy needed coming off of a 74-27 loss in their prior contest.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Bishop Gorman ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top against Yavneh Academy by a score of 79-71. The win was familiar territory for Bishop Gorman who now have three in a row.
Bishop Gorman's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Beau Bender led the charge by scoring 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bender has scored all season. Evan Thibodeaux was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Coram Deo Academy's victory bumped their record up to 2-15. As for Bishop Gorman, they pushed their record up to 20-4 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Coram Deo Academy came up short against Bishop Gorman in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 56-43. Thankfully for Coram Deo Academy, Adam Favre (who scored 23 points along with eight rebounds and two steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
