Baseball Recap: Springside Chestnut Hill Academy Takes a Loss

Springside Chestnut Hill Academy had lost nine straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 2-6 to make it ten. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Perkiomen School Panthers. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Springside Chestnut Hill Academy saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Frankie Decembrino, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

As for Perkiomen School, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games.

On Perkiomen School's side, Justin Fryer made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Fryer has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Avery Smith, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Zach Mayza was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Springside Chestnut Hill Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Perkiomen School, they will take on Episcopal Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
