Basketball Recap: Benton Central Falls Short of Rensselaer Central in the Playoffs

Benton Central and Rensselaer Central squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Benton Central had to settle for second. They took a hard 47-33 fall against the Rensselaer Central Bombers. While losing is never fun, the Bison can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while the Bombers are ranked 25th).

Rensselaer Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kamri Rowland led the charge by dropping a double-double on 19 points and 11 boards. Rowland is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 45% in the last five games she's played. Courtney Mathew was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Benton Central's defeat dropped their record down to 17-8. As for Rensselaer Central, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 22-2.

Benton Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rensselaer Central, they have already played their next matchup, a 67-26 win against North Montgomery on the 8th.
