After a string of three wins, Thomas Jefferson's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of the Mullen Mustangs by a score of 2-1. The matchup marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Thomas Jefferson started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The match finished with set scores of 26-28, 25-23, 15-8.

Mullen found their leader in sophomore Zander Lawrence, who had 12 digs. Ari Kaufman also deserves some recognition as he had his first block of the season.

Thomas Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Mullen, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-3.

Thomas Jefferson didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Denver East on the 15th. As for Mullen, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Coronado on the 15th.
