Softball Recap: Rocky River Comes Up Short

After flying high against Valley Forge on Tuesday, Rocky River came back down to earth. The Pirates came up short against the Westlake Demons on Wednesday, falling 8-2. The Pirates were not able to make up for their loss to the Demons from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Reagan Kane spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and six unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Rocky River saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddie Sollars, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Rocky River's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Westlake, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-6 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Rocky River will challenge rival Normandy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Westlake is set to face off against their familiar foe Bay at 5:00 p.m. on the 8th.
