Basketball Game Preview: Saranac Spartans vs. Saranac Lake Red Storm

The Saranac Spartans will head out to challenge the Saranac Lake Red Storm at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Saranac will head into Saturday's game on the come-up: they were handed a 25-point loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 55-52 victory over Massena.

Henry Napper and Carson Duffield were among the main playmakers for Saranac as the former posted 18 points and six boards and the latter dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave Duffield a new career-high in assists (six). Another player making a difference was Zack Lucia, who earned six points.

Meanwhile, Saranac Lake hadn't done well against Franklin Academy recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Saranac Lake narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Franklin Academy 48-46. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Red Storm have posted since February 8th.

The win got Saranac back to even at 1-1. As for Saranac Lake, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.

Saranac didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Saranac Lake in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 62-56 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Saranac since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
