Softball Recap: Lonoke Comes Up Short

Lonoke blew Stuttgart out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Stuttgart got their revenge. The Jackrabbits fell just short of the Ricebirds by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Jackrabbits have suffered since April 19, 2024.

Kendra Terry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Shaniya Jackson was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Lonoke's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 13-7. As for Stuttgart, they moved to 5-11 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lonoke will welcome Beebe at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Stuttgart, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Parkview at 5:00 p.m. on the 28th.
