Baseball Game Preview: Pioneer Panthers vs. Bremen Lions

The Pioneer Panthers will face off against the Bremen Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pioneer is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Pioneer turned things around against Triton on Saturday. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Trojans.

Dawson Eggers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Noah Miller was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Jayson Layman was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one triple and one run.

Glenn hit Bremen with a 12-run third inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Lions came up short against the Falcons, falling 15-3.

Bremen saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Silas Laidig, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double.

Bremen's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Pioneer, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.

Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Pioneer has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .443. However, it's not like Bremen struggles in that department as they've averaged .491. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
