Basketball Game Preview: Huntington North Vikings vs. DeKalb Barons

Huntington North is 9-0 against DeKalb since January of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Huntington North Vikings will look to defend their home court against the DeKalb Barons at 7:30 p.m. Huntington North knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully DeKalb likes a good challenge.

Huntington North is headed into the match having just suffered their closest loss since February 9, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of East Noble by a score of 63-60. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (59), the Vikings still had to take the loss.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Ethan Zahn, who went 6 of 14 en route to 16 points and six assists. The contest was his sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Titus Schultz, who went 6 for 13 on his way to 15 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, DeKalb was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Wednesday as they fell 40-36 to West Noble. The Barons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

DeKalb's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Huntington North, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-7.

Huntington North was able to grind out a solid victory over DeKalb when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 56-44. Does Huntington North have another victory up their sleeve, or will DeKalb turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
