Basketball Recap: Leo Batzer's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Platte Canyon over Denver Christian

On Saturday, the Platte Canyon Huskies ended up a good deal behind the Denver Christian Thunder and lost 74-59. The Huskies were down 63-39 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Platte Canyon's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Leo Batzer, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 10 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexander Thoms, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 15 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Denver Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Walker Politte, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine assists. With that strong performance, Politte is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Elias Romero was another key player, going 7 of 12 on his way to 17 points and eight rebounds.

Platte Canyon's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Denver Christian, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Platte Canyon will head out to take on Arrupe Jesuit at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Arrupe Jesuit is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 67.3 points per game this season. As for Denver Christian, they will welcome Elbert at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Denver Christian also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 56.6 points per game.
