Softball Game Preview: Milan Big Reds vs. Flat Rock Rams

The Milan Big Reds will head out on the road to challenge the Flat Rock Rams at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Milan has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Flat Rock will arrive with three straight wins.

Milan is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 15 runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Saline on Friday. They lost 11-1 to the Hornets.

Flat Rock came out on top against Carlson on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run seventh inning. The Rams were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Marauders.

Vanessa Neace spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on nine hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Avery Mack, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Sarah Giroux was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Flat Rock kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matches.

Flat Rock pushed their record up to 10-10 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Milan, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.
