Baseball Recap: South Medford Comes Up Short

South Medford suffered their closest defeat since April 29th on Thursday. They fell just short of the South Salem Saxons by a score of 6-4. The Panthers were not able to make up for their loss to the Saxons from their previous meeting back in March of 2019.

South Medford got a good showing from Jake Lewis, who tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Lewis is becoming a predictor of the Panthers' success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 5-2 (and 9-11 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Easton Douglas was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

This is the second loss in a row for South Medford and nudges their season record down to 14-13. As for South Salem, their win was their 13th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 27-0.

As of now, neither South Medford nor the Saxons have any future games scheduled.
