Baseball Game Preview: University Bulldogs vs. Mead Mavericks

The University Bulldogs will face off against the Mead Mavericks at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as University comes in on four and Mead on five.

University gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Elizabeth 6-4.

The team relied heavily on Kaden Turk, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Medardo Abrego, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Mead hadn't done well against Holy Family recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Mead blew past Holy Family 10-3. The result was nothing new for the Mavericks, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Mead pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for University, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
