Recap: Maclay Marauders vs. Pensacola Catholic Crusaders
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Maclay Marauders can now relate to. The contest between them and the Crusaders wasn't particularly close, with the Marauders falling 59-43. Maclay was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Pensacola Catholic apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, Maclay still got an impressive performance from Journey Kramer, who scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Lauren Guyer, who scored nine points.
Pensacola Catholic's win on Monday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sophie Burns, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Burns hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for 11 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenecia Swindell, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Maclay has not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-11 record this season. As for Pensacola Catholic, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-15.
Maclay does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pensacola Catholic, they will square off against Florida State University High School at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
