After losing to Herrin the last time they met, Goreville decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Blackcats came out on top against the Tigers by a score of  6-2  on Wednesday. The  win made it back-to-back  victories for the Blackcats.
 Lydia Kwiatkowski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered  just two earned runs on five hits.
 On the hitting side,  the team  relied heavily on  Ellie Tripp, who  got on base  in three of her four plate appearances with two  runs and one  RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of  Addyson (Addy) Underwood, who  went 2-for-4 with one  stolen base and two  RBI.
Goreville's win bumped their record up to 11-16. As for Herrin, they have  traveled a rocky road recently, having  lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-15 record  this season.
 Goreville will venture away from home to  square off against Woodlawn  at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday. The Blackcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 7.8  runs per game this season. As for Herrin, they will host Benton  at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday.
