Softball Recap: Silver Stage Takes a Loss

Silver Stage extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 3-22. They came up short against the Pershing County Mustangs, falling 17-6. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, with their most recent loss being a 16-1 defeat on Saturday.

Julieta Munoz and Joselyn Fayaud did some serious damage despite the final result: Munoz got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run, while Fayaud went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Amy Welch, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

As for Pershing County, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-11. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by ten runs or more this season.

On Pershing County's side, they let Mia Canchola and Lilian Wagner run wild. Canchola went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Wagner got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave Wagner a new career-high. Kyra Cerini was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Silver Stage does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pershing County, they will face off against Battle Mountain at 8:30 a.m. on Friday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Longhorns have averaged an impressive 13.7 runs per game this season.
