Soccer Game Preview: San Juan Hills vs. Capistrano Valley

The San Juan Hills Stallions will head out to face off against the Capistrano Valley Cougars at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. San Juan Hills is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.

If Capistrano Valley heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when San Juan Hills took over last week. San Juan Hills came out on top against Aliso Niguel by a score of 4-2 on Wednesday. Given the Stallions' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while the Wolverines are ranked 225th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Capistrano Valley managed to keep up with San Clemente until halftime on Wednesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Capistrano Valley lost 4-1 to San Clemente. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Tritons recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

San Juan Hills' victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 11 goals over those four games. As for Capistrano Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6-3.

San Juan Hills beat Capistrano Valley by a goal in their previous matchup two weeks ago, winning 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for San Juan Hills since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
