Lewis kept a clean sheet against Hayfield on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Hawks 1-0. Given Lewis' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 45th, while Hayfield are ranked 166th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lewis' one-goal win came courtesy of Giovanni Hernandez, who's now up to five this season.

Lewis' win bumped their record up to 4-2-2. As for Hayfield, they dropped their record down to 0-7 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.

Lewis and Hayfield will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Lancers see the pitch they'll take on Lake Braddock at 7:15 p.m. on the 21st. As for Hayfield, their break will end when they face Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology at 7:30 p.m. on the 22nd.
