Baseball Game Preview: Thorndale Bulldogs vs. Danbury Panthers

For the second straight game, Thorndale will face off against Danbury. The Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Thorndale 3, Danbury 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Thorndale is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Danbury 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bulldogs have posted since March 18th.

Gunner Ferguson made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over 5.1 innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Pedro Jimenez was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Nathan Grimm, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Thorndale has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Danbury, their loss ended a 12-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 25-8.
