Softball Recap: Wilmington Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Wilmington won the last time they faced Reed-Custer and things went their way on Friday too. The Wildcats walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Comets. The win was nothing new for the Wildcats as they're now sitting on four straight.

Lexi Strohm spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aly Allgood, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Taylor Stefancic was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Wilmington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.

Wilmington's record is now 21-5. As for Reed-Custer, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Wilmington will take on Streator at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.22 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Reed-Custer, they will challenge Coal City at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
