Baseball Game Preview: Mt. Hope Huskies vs. Cumberland Clippers

The Mt. Hope Huskies are taking a road trip to challenge the Cumberland Clippers at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Mt. Hope is looking for their season's first win.

Mt. Hope fell victim to Barrington and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 1-0.

Mt. Hope saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trace Dubois, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Cumberland faced Smithfield in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Clippers took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sentinels. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

Cumberland now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Mt. Hope, their loss dropped their record down to 0-12.

Mt. Hope came up short against Cumberland in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, falling 7-2. Can the Huskies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
