Softball Recap: Tunstall Gets the Win

Tunstall had lost three games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 6-7 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Magna Vista Warriors. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Trojans have posted since May 22, 2025.

As for Magna Vista, they dropped their record down to 8-7 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. Having soared to a lofty 21 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

For Magna Vista's part, Morgan Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. Smith has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Magna Vista saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaylee Barrow, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Tunstall will venture away from home to square off against Staunton River at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Eagles have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season. As for Magna Vista, they will host Bassett at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
